Kia’s Soul is here, and looks nearly identical to the trio of concept cars that appeared in Geneva earlier in 2008. The faux-4x4 will be launched at the Paris Motor Show later this year, before going on sale in the UK in March 2009. Underpinning the Soul is an all-new platform but it will lift engines and transmissions from the Ceed hatch, led by 1.6 petrol and diesel engines.

Matt paint finishes are not exactly everyone’s cup of tea, but for those with deep pockets – buying expensive cars – they’ve been an option for a while. And now BMW are extending their Matte paint finishes to MINI, with limited editions of the MINI Countrymnan and MINI Paceman being offered with the special Frozen Black Metallic Matt paint job. The Matt paint – which is textured and shimmers – certainly gives the MINI a new look and will be available on MINI Cooper S Countryman, MINI Cooper SD Countryman, MINI Cooper S Paceman, MINI Cooper SD Paceman, MINI John Cooper Works Countryman and MINI John Cooper Works Paceman.
How about this for subtlety in advertising? BMW is using flashing lights to “burn” its initials into your brain so that when you close your eyes, you'll continue to see the Bavarian company's brand. Which begs the question: Is there a better way to remember a company than to have a light-induced seizure episode?
